We all know that the Challenger is a sports car, and that it looks great in bright colors like Chrysler’s “High Impact” colors, but this car is stunning finished in a triple white color combination. The color combination and options that this car has give it a sophisticated, elegant look, simply clean and smooth. A rare color combination, a few rarely seen options, and a California history make for an awesome car. The car you see here is a 1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye finished in Dover White over a white interior with a 340ci V8 under the hood.

Don’t let the simple looks fool you, this Challenger has a lot of desirable features from the factory. To start, the body is finished in Dover White, which was probably not too popular a color at the time. If you were buying a sports car like a Challenger, you wanted to be noticed, and a bright color is an easy way to get noticed. You’ll notice the absence of any accent stripes, either along the upper body lines, or at the tail of the car. For no additional cost, the stripe at the rear of the car was deleted. A white vinyl top, a pair of chrome “racing mirrors”, and a cowl hood with simulated air scoops are other notable exterior features. The body is in very nice condition with panels and trim lining up as they should, and chrome showing very nicely. A very interesting option is the factory power sunroof, and according to our research this is one of 62 cars that rolled off the assembly line with the $454 sunroof option. Wheels are 14″ Rallye II wheels with beauty rings wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A white letter tires

The interesting features continue inside the car with the white vinyl interior that consists of bucket seats, and a center console. The dashboard and center console are trimmed in faux wood, and a black T-Handle shifter handles gear selection. In addition, a factory tachometer, clock, two spoke steering wheel, and Kenwood stereo are other interior features. The interior has obviously been well kept, and the vinyl seats, door panels, and headliner are in very nice condition.

Under the hood is a factory correct, 4 BBL 340ci V8 mated to a Torqueflite automatic transmission. A sure-grip differential, power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, and California emissions control system are other notable powertrain related features. The underside of the car is in nice condition, showing some dirt and grime, but looks to be highly original.

The sunroof was a more expensive option than the options of the 340 V8 and the Torqueflite transmission combined. Such a high cost may explain why we don’t see many of these cars that have a factory sunroof. With such a clean sleek look thanks to the few uncommon options that this car left the factory with, we admire this car and its looks. This is a Challenger that will stand out from the rest.
