This 351ci V8 powered Ranchero XL is a clean, straight, and surprisingly original from front to back. Cold air, power steering, power brakes, and automatic transmission make it easy enough for anyone in the family to drive, and everything from the gauges and lights to the horn all work as they should!
Body is clean, straight, solid, and free of rust or rot. Paint is still pretty nice, but it has some marks and blemishes as you see in the photos from being driven fairly regularly as the prior owners hobby truck. Chassis is rust and rot free, and has only light surface oxidation to be found. Inner doors, rockers, fender wells, etc., are all very clean and straight. Chrome shows light signs of aging, but the rest of the trim/brightwork looks really good. Tail gate is functional, and shows incredibly clean inside and out. Glass is in great condition with the exceptional of a small chip on the driver side of the windshield that the prior owner said has been there for at least 8 years. Door shut and close great, windows go up and down with ease, and the seals are good throughout.
The interior is pretty nice for being original, with solid and clean seats, armrests, headliner, and trim panels. Carpeting shows its age, but is still serviceable when the mats are on top. Rear well is clean, and has the rubber mat intact as well as the spare tire and jack. Dash is clean and uncracked. A full set of gauges for oil/amps/temp/fuel/and clock work as they should. Speedo and tach work as they should. An AM/FM cassette player was added in the 90’s and still works through aftermarket door speakers. Seatbelts are stained, but work perfectly.
Engine starts and idles cleanly. No smoke, no weeping fluid, and no leaks. It has plenty of power, and the automatic shifts through each gear smoothly and cleanly. It cruises down the highway with ease, and is happiest around 60mph with the original factory gearing. Brakes are solid and sure, and it slows down without any pulling, grabbing, or excessive fade. It doesn’t run hot, and after a 2 hour drive to a car show with the A/C on it didn’t have ANY issues whatsoever.
If you are looking for a clean, straight everyday capable classic that can still run to Home Depot and carry a piece of plywood, this is one for you!
