Up for sale with mixed emotions is our 1973 Cougar XR7 coupe. We purchased a Mustang K-Code and need to sell this cougar to focus on the K-Code. This is an unrestored California car that is completely rust free and ready to drive home. We bought it out of an estate in southern California and the title came with Power of Attorney and death certificate. The odometer shows 31,000 miles and I have no reason to doubt it. It drives straight down the road. I added new tires because the ones were bad from sitting too long. The 4300 M carburetor was leaking at the filter fitting threads, so we put an Edelbrock 1406 4 brl. We will include the factory 4300 with the car. We have added a new water pump, serviced the transmission along with new front and rear seals, a new gear in the driver’s power window, and of course oil and filter. We have driven it about 3000 miles and drove to the 50th Anniversary Cougar show in Detroit in July. About 300 miles round trip. She cruised down the interstate perfectly. The air blows cold too. This is a 351 Q-Code Cougar with the staggered rear shocks like a Boss Mustang. VIN # 3F93Q573741, C- 6 transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt wheel, power driver seat, power windows, AM-FM factory stereo, console, ¾ vinyl roof, air conditioning, convenience group, appearance protection group, intermittent wipers, color keyed racing mirrors, and tinted glass. I have not detailed the car. Under the hood is the way it came in ’73 other than the carburetor. I added the 1977 cougar hood ornament. I have the Marti Report and the window sticker to show how well this car is equipped. The right front fender has been repainted but I can’t find any bondo in the car anywhere. Everything works. We had a ’73 Cougar back in the 70’s before kids and loved it so when this car became available we picked it up. But, with a chance at a HIPO Mustang, things have to change.
