All original 1975 Ford Gran Torino Elite. First offered in 1974, Ford introduced the Gran Torino Elite as a personal luxury car. In 1975 and 1976, the “Gran Torino” was dropped in favor of calling it the “Elite”. The “Elite” enjoyed only a 2 year run. This car was purchased in 1975 by a doctor and his wife in Northwest Montana. I purchased it from them through a dealer in Ronan, Montana. It has the original 351M engine mated to a 3 speed automatic transmission. The air conditioning was upgraded to R-134 refrigerant and works well. Before I purchased it, all 4 springs and shocks were replaced. KYB shocks were used and the front brakes were replaced. The tires have less than 1,000 miles on them.

The upholstery is in exceptionally good shape. Each of the 2 front seats has stitching missing in one pleat; this is the only issue. None of the material is torn and the carpet, dash, door panels, etc. are in remarkably good shape. It is equipped with power door locks, power windows and rear window defogger, all of which work. The clock is correct twice each 24 hour period(it does not work). All glass is in great shape.

The car starts, runs and drives exceptionally well. No leaks from the engine, trans, or rear end. I have multiple photos I can send to document the condition. There is minor surface rust on the underside of the trunk lid and hood; very treatable. There is a very small spot on the driver side lower quarter panel down low behind the left rear wheel. Again, very treatable. Undercarriage is great. No rust in floors at all. The vinyl roof is in very good shape.

Overall, this is a great driver. With coil springs at all 4 corners, it rides like you are on a cloud. I worked for Ford when these were produced and we used to call them the “Everyday Man’s Thunderbird”. Being shorter and lighter than the Thunderbird, it is more nimble and has better power. This is a car to just get in and drive; to my knowledge, it needs nothing. Garaged since new, it is a great car for the money.
